The Oxford History of Philosophy is an open-ended series of books which will weave together to form a new history of philosophy. In each volume the author will trace the development of philosophy in a particular time and place, expounding the ideas and setting them in their historical context. The books are written for academics and advanced students in philosophy and intellectual history, and are intended to open up the philosophy of the periods they discuss to non-specialists.
