Improvisatory and lyrical in style, this is Butler's version of abstract cocktail lounge music. It takes inspiration from a phonograph recording of Debussy playing the piano with a truly magical tone, luminous and deep. There are also (for those with very quick ears) one or two fleeting quotes from his works.
Martin Butler (b.1960)
