This book deals with nuclear and particle physics at an introductory level, giving an up-to-date description of nuclear and particle physics at a level suitable for undergraduates. Since the primary test of a physical theory is by examining its ability to make correct quantitative predictions, the reader is encouraged, whenever possible, to appreciate the quantitative aspect of a phenomenon in addition to learning a descriptive explanation.
Readership: Second and third year undergraduates in UK. Junior and senior years in USA.
W. S. C. Williams, Lecturer , Department of Physics, Fellow and Tutor in Physics,, St Edmund Hall, University of Oxford
".... this is an attractive, interesting, and informative account of an important and challenging area of physics... it is pitched at a level which should make it quite readily accessible to its intended student audience." - Times Higher Education Supplement
"This is a working textbook, which unlike many others, covers both the physics of nuclei and of elementary particles. It is attractively produced, with many diagrams and photos." - Contemporary Physics
