"An accessible and essential online resource - Claire Wilcox, Senior Curator, V&A Museum" "An absolutely absorbing resource. It contains very strong narratives which are extremely rich in background detail and context. The various sections and demarcations are logical, self explanatory and easy to locate. The advanced search screen was a dream, in that I found everything that I was looking for. The text is also loaded with analysis, and interpretation, being particularly strong on intellectual thought, and rich in theory, but complemented by practical applications and examples too. Also, in terms of a lasting impression, the resource exuded authority, and professional detachment, as it seemed to me to be devoid of obvious bias when tackling
political or religiously sensitive issues and taboo topics. Reference Reviews" "A review of the print Encyclopedia: This is a valuable resource for anyone interested in fashion and dress but particularly useful for students in anthropology, art history, cultural studies, museum studies, and, of course, fashion and textiles. - Booklist" "A review of the print Encyclopedia: The inclusion of peripheral subjects illustrates that there are many aspects of fashion and dress, and fashion and dress play a role in many aspects of human life. - Booklist" "A review of the print Encyclopedia: This work is arguably the new benchmark in its field. LIBRARY JOURNAL"
