for SATB accompanied and unaccompanied This series brings together anthems and carols by some of Oxford's leading choral composers, including John Rutter, Bob Chilcott, Andrew Carter, Mack Wilberg, and Alan Bullard. Together, these collections offer a kaleidoscope of musical styles and texts, including unique arrangements of popular classics alongside some of the composers' finest original works to date. Previously published under the title 'Gaudete!', this collection of ten exciting carol arrangements has been re-covered to complement Bob Chilcott's first Christmas choral anthology, Bob Chilcott Carols 1.
From the simple, understated beauty of 'Away in a manger' to the exuberant jazz waltz version of 'We wish you a merry Christmas', this volume takes a fresh look at classics of the Christmas repertoire. Orchestral material is available on hire for the accompanied pieces.Forces or CategorySATB accompanied & unaccompaniedDifficultyEasy to Moderately difficultOrchestrationAway in a manger - harp and strings Coventry Carol - 1.1.2.1-2.0.0.0-str Gaudete! - 1.1.2.2-2.2.0.0-timp-str Jesus,

Arranged by Bob Chilcott (b.1955) Bob Chilcott has been involved with choral music all his life, first as a Chorister and then a Choral Scholar at King's College, Cambridge. Later, he sang and composed music for 12 years with the King's Singers. His experiences with that group, his passionate commitment to young and amateur choirs, and his profound belief that music can unite people, have inspired him both to compose full-time and, through proactive workshopping, to promote choral music worldwide.Bob Chilcott's website

"'Gaudete' and the 'Sussex Carol' stand out here as genuinely uplifting arrangements, equally suitable for youth and adult choirs." - Choir & Organ, September 2009 "This is gentle Bob Chilcott; the pieces here are much less demanding than some of his individual-copy stuff, and the ten carols are well known . . . All are fun to sing, and free of unnecessary difficulties; a couple of parts split, and do try the Sussex Carol, which works surprisingly well having been chucked into 7/8." - Jonathan Wikeley, Music Teacher, September 2009
