A story for singing and staging suitable for 8-11 year-olds for voices (mostly unison with a little two-part), narrator, and ensemble. The words are by Ian Serraillier. The action is based on an old Persian tale of a virtuous and accomplished, but cowardly, prince. The accompaniment is for recorders, guitars, and tuned and untuned percussion with optional parts for flute (plus picc.), clarinet, horn, bassoon, guitar, percussion.
